As part of the Homegrown Hat Collection, the Tiller Beanie is so named because of its resemblance to a swath of freshly tilled earth, ready for planting. It’s a modular hat that will give you a little practice with two types of seaming. Each of the three parts are knit flat and then assembled, magically transforming them into a unique, warm hat.

7 (8, 9)” height

 

SKILLS USED MATERIALS

Cables, seaming, decreases, grafting

Yarns used: Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride Worsted (left), Bare Naked Wools Confection Worsted (right)

  • Worsted weight yarn, approx 125 yds
  • US size 9 (5.5 mm) needles or size needed to achieve gauge
  • Cable needle
  • Yarn needle
CONSTRUCTION GAUGE

Worked in three flat pieces and seamed

16 sts & 24 rows = 4”/10 cm in St st
24 sts & 24 rows = 4”/10 cm in Cable Panel Patt

Save time by making a swatch;
Change needle size if necessary to achieve gauge.
